  1. The best thing to do is get a book with practice tests.  Time depends on how long you want to take and how much time you have to study..  Get a study guide and a book with practice tests.  Sometimes the study guides have practice tests.

2 weeks before the test go through the tests again.  Do one per day.

For now do a test maybe twice a week.  After you do a test, look at the questions and rationalize why they want the answer that is correct.  If you have someone to go through it with you and discuss it, that will help.  Look through the study guide for the topic the questions covers and see how they arrived at their correct answer.

Practice tests help you learn what they are looking for in answers.  They help you with time limits.  They may have similar questions as the actual test.

I did this for my Nursing state boards and for a certification test.  It was the most helpful of all.

  2. I passed the Intro to Computers CLEP last month.  It was very hard to find info to study for the computer CLEP so I went to the library and got a general computer book.  I studied the book for about 10 hours total then took the test in the CLEP study guide.  Any questions that i got wrong i looked up the correct answers in the intro to computers book from the library. I studied a total of 15 hours for that test and I passed it.

I just signed up for the Psychology CLEP test and I will have to spent more time with that one because I don't have as much general knowledge in that area like I do in computers
