It's been exactly one month since I left my job. A lot of the positions that I have applied for, the status of them is unknown. I decided to follow up again with the company, but I don't know if it's too late for a second chance.

  1. Hello Cristina.m,

It's a good practice to give it about 2-3 days. Then if possible call and ask for the decision maker, HR person or manager who will decide who gets interviewed. Keep it brief with respect to the fact they may be busy. Ask about the status of the position and your application.

Ask if there is anymore info that would be helpful in getting the interview. Make sure get the individuals name and job title. In the mean time use your time wisely to get an edge on the competition by learning all you can about how the job interview process actually works.

  2. 1 week should be ok

  3. I'd say 2-3 days that way any open positions are not taken by someone else because they showed more concern by checking on their application before you did.

  4.   A couple of weeks should be enough, but when you check, if the status is still open, ask how long you should wait before checking again ("I don't want to bug you too often")  When applying for anything new, if you have to, ask when the job applications close and how long after that you should followup.  Treat the job hunt like a job involving customer contact and followup with a list of dates and calls to make on each date.
