How long should you keep different make-up before throwing it out?

Question

I've had some of my make-up for quite a while; What I would like to know is how long to keep it before throwing it out? I'm sorting through it all as I have a bit much now so would just like to know which I should keep.

If anyone could give me answers for the following I would be grateful:

Mascara:

Pencil eyeliner:

Foundation:

Blusher/Bronzer:

Liquid eyeliner:

Eyeshadow:

Pressed powder:

Lip gloss:

Anything that is liquid usually has a shelf life of about 3 months; sooner if it starts to get thick or smells funny. You should pay special attention to liquid liner and mascara because of the risk of an eye infection.

Lipsticks and lip glosses are usually OK for about a year or so, but also use common sense--if you have a lip gloss that has been hanging around your make up bag for months without a cover, better to play it safe and toss it.

Pencil eyeliners last awhile because everytime you sharpen them, you renew the surface, so there are a lot less germs.

Powdered make-ups can pretty much last forever; just make sure to wash the brushes/applicators you use on a regular basis.

idk about the other make-ups but only keep ur mascara for a year n get a new one cuz bactiria multiplies in there

Most make-up keeps for quite a while.

Oil-Free Foundation: 1 year

Cream or Compact Foundation: 18 months

Concealer: 12-18 months

Powder: 2 years

Blush and Bronzer: 2 years

Cream Blush: 12-18 months

Powder Eye shadow: 2 years Cream Eye shadow: 12-18 months

Eyeliner: 2 years

Liquid eyeliner: 3-6 months

Mascara: 3 months

Lipstick: 2 years

Lip liner: 2 years

Lip gloss: 18-24 months

Nail Color: 1 year

Keep your make up as long as the expiry date permits, keep it in perfect condition, and do not use expired products - this way your skin will remain healthy and beautiful for years.
