How long should you teabag?

How long should you let a tea bag sit in the water before it's ready to go??

I noticed that it depends on the tea bag.  My favorite, Tazo Passion tea is fresh and steeping only 3 - 4 minutes is enough.

We have some OLD tea bags and I could soak them all day and there would still be no flavor and the tea gets more bitter.

Making  Chai tea, I steep the fresh tea for about 10 minutes before adding milk.

Most people say 3-5 minutes...I on the otherhand, soak the bag so long a friend of mine teased me once and told me I should just save time and suck on the bag.

It depends on the kind of tea, for green tea or white tea you should steep for 7 minutes, for black tea you should steep for 5 minutes, and for red tea you should steep for 3-5, depending on the brand on tea.
