  1. Well, it depends on the restaurant and how busy they are.  If there are a lot of people in there, then each attendee should handle their customers in the order that they come in...Pizza hut probably shouldn't take that long, however it's taken me that long to get service there at times too.  If you can see the waitor or waitress is really busy and their doing the best they can to keep up, I'd still leave a good tip.

  2. Depends on the type of restaurant (casual, family, fine dining ect) but most chains tell their employees to at least aknowledge a tabe in about 3 min (like say hi, I'll be right with you), and have drinks to them within 5.

20 min is rediculous......but I've had that problem with chain restaurants...remember they don't hire usually well qualified, experienced personal like a fine dining restaurant would.  You can always complain to the corperation and see if they'll do something for you.

  3. I say 15 minutes at the most, unless you really really want that certain food.

  4. Depending on how busy the place is no longer than 20 minutes or the place realy doesn't value there customers.  Plus make sure that someone is aware that you are there.  Like the server.

  5. Take it from a former waitress. The wait staff should acknowledge your presence by approaching your table to say, "be with you shortly" within 5 minutes after you are seated. Drink orders should be taken within less than 10 minutes (15 if super busy). The drinks should be served within 5  to 10 minutes after ordering. Once drinks are brought out the appetizer/meal order should be taken. 20 minutes is a long time to sit without any service or acknowledgement. As long as I am acknowledged in the beginning, I can be very patient if the place is packed. Totally ignored for 20 minutes is absurd.

  6. 2 minutes....all you have to do is acknowledge the guest "hi im so and so....and I'll be with you shortly.  2 seconds out of your time and it buys you an extra few minutes to catch up and give them the attention they deserve.
