  1. i would wait 8-10 min for a waitress and 25 min for food

  2. at my restaurant the greet time is 30 seconds

drinks on the table in 2 minutes (unless it's a bar drink)

    appetisers take from 8-12 minutes

entrees take 15-30 mins (depends on what you order)

if i'm not greeted in 5 minutes I'm gone!

I will wait up to 45 minutes for an entree, then i ask to speak with a manager.

  3. Well, whenever I have to wait for more than 5 minutes, I find the manager.  I calmly tell the mgr. how long I have been waiting.>>>Really anytime I have any problem with the food, wait or service I seek out the manager.  I do take other things into consideration, if the restaurant is really crowded, if the server appologizes for any problems in his/her control etc...

  4. If you haven't had someone take a drink order in 15 minutes, get up and check at the hostess desk.  There may be confusion over whose table it is.  If you don't get your food in 30 minutes, double check to see if the order was turned in.  Mistakes happen.

If the restaurant is terribly busy and short handed, you may just have to wait.

  5. the first 10-15 minutes i think a wait staff should be to your table to take your order....i think 15-20 to get that food on the table....anything longer than that should not get a tip or just leave.maybe the restaurant is too busy and go some where else.

  6. Having worked extensively in food industry; my opinion would be after seated wait no longer than 5 minutes MAXIMUM for server.....They really should arrive within 1-2 minutes,,  but thngs happen........If no sign of server or anyone at all paying me any attention, I would leave after 5 minutes, plus/minus,

Food, that is another story...much has to be taken into account...did you order special meal, is it packed, have you received any food, salad, appetizers, etc.......If the wait is longer than normal, most servers, managers, staff will offer something free (appetizer) to off set wait.....if asked politely how much longer will meal be? and meal does not appear, ask for manager......if they annot help you, then I would leave and ask for contact number for retaurant owner.......AGain, problems can and do occur, be patient if food is cooked to order, special, or the restaurant is overwhelmed.....if no food after 30minutes (after salad) I would talk to manager and decide on when to leave. Hope this helps.

  7. In good hospitality, a server should personally greet you or at least acknowledge you with eye contact, or in introduction and "I'll be right back with you," within the first 3-5 minutes.  If busy or in the middle of something, take that into consideration and be patient...your server will be grateful and likely give you better service.

However, If 10 minutes or more have gone by without anyone acknowledging you, that is the appropriate time to start asking where your server is.

Or leave.  But, by the time you get in your car, find another place to eat, park, go in, get seated, and wait another 5 minutes, you might have been eating your food at the first place.

Appetizers should generally take 10-20 minutes. Entrees should take about the same, after the appetizers.  If 30 minutes have gone by, that would be an appropriate time to ask.

However, understand that kitchen's also get busy, and it's not your server's fault if the kitchen is taking a long time, so don't blame them by less of a tip.  The kitchen gets paid regardless...your server is counting on their good service for tips.  I've never met a server that has intentionally tried to get a lesser tip.

Be patient and have manners when you dine out.  Otherwise, stay home.  Your server will thank you.

  8. I've never gotten up to leave. Not only do you have to make sure you're happy, since you're out treating yourself, but you want to make sure the people serving your food are happy. If you complain and throw a fit, they may very well spit in your food or do other things to it.

I think the best thing to do is to be really nice no matter what. Then if the food takes too long, they'll sometimes give it to your for free.

  9. If you are really hungry and feel that you are being ignored, leave as soon as possible, after all a hungry man is an angry man.

If it's just a casual night out with friends/family and you aren't rushed then I think between 5-20mins should do.
