  1. are you asking about spark plugs in general, or did you have a particular motor in mind?

  2. Marine spark plugs almost never ware-out.  They are neglected to death.  I routinely cleaned spark plugs for years.  If the plug was fouled with oil or crud, they were fine after cleaning.  A lot of shops simply always replaced the plugs, rather than go to the trouble to check and clean them.

  3. Replace with what the manufacture says they spent a lot of time & money for the best for there engines> if you do change to another plug run for a couple of hours & remove and make use it not running to lean or damage will encure> Marine plugs don't last long as there ran at a higher RPM and more fuel used> Every season they should be changed>

  4. it really depends on a lot of things like the compression the fuel type the size of the engine and so on

for the most part i check them  around every 15 k i check the wires and plugs i also greese the joints

the more expensive ones really wont do much unless you use them in conjuction with a system that gives a larger overall spark

generally i use the singles or the bosch 2

i have used the 4 with a couple systems but it is like i said

im not saying you need to replace them every 15 k but if you check them you might catch something like a hot plug or exposed wire before it becomes a problem

of course i also replace my trans fluid at 60 k when the books say 100

a litlle extra work/cash in maintance can save a lot of headaches down the line

    goodluck

  5. I believe the regular spark plugs last about 30,000 miles and the higher grade ones last 100,000.

  6. I like to change plugs in a marine engine yearly. Right after the engine has been started for the first time in the spring and blown out the fogging oil.

    My favorites: NGK.
