  1. If you work really hard, you'll be on pointes in about a year or too.  Otherwise, you'll have to wait a few more years.   Pointes will hurt your toes, so when you finally get to it, do it only once a few days.

  2. hmmm. well i started at 6 and go to pointes at 7 or 8. i worked really hard. i think you could get it in a year! :D good luck!

  3. well i got onto pointe after 4 months-

well you can get to pointe faster by strenghthening you ankles, and making sure you pull up all the time and dance with turnout. you have to have good turnout so you could do the frogy stretches and heaps of plies. you should have good arches but if you dont well youll have to strengthen your ankles more to pay up for it - theres not much you could do to improve your arches if you have really bad ones. you can tell you teacher that your intreested on going en piinte so you can ask her to tell you when your ready. its waht i did and so my tech told me when i could.also strength youll especially need strenght like grand high battements and developays which you need flexibility for too.

you could show your techer that you can dance so try really hard and dance with expression .

    hope it helped.

  4. I started ballet when I was 8, in Grade 1. I had classes 2x a week and now I'm 13, in Grade 6 and still have classes 2x a week. Keep practicing!

  5. While only taking classes once a week, you can probably expect to be on pointe within 2 years. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication, and it's not something that you can jump right in to without work. Your teacher also has to make sure you are able to be on pointe, some people don't have strong enough ankles. But, to prepare yourself, do a lot of releves without the barre as far onto your toes as you can. Be careful about sickling, as well as building the leg muscles to be able to lift yourself out of your shoes. Also, to make it even faster, take more than one class a week.

  6. It all really depends on the teacher. If the teacher thinks you're ready, you're ready, if not, you're not.

Usually, most teachers recommend that a ballet student take at least 2 years of ballet (if not more) or if you are very intense in your first year of ballet (taking 3-5 classes a week that are one to two hours long) after your first year.

It also depends on how quickly you're able to pick up on ballet, how determined you are, how strong you are, how coordinated you are, and how you are with balancing.

So ultimately, it is up to the teacher. You can definitely talk to your teacher about it in the beginning of the year and express your goals to her. Then work as hard as you can--practice, practice, and more practice. Be dedicated and diligent about ballet and practicing. Build up your ankle and leg strength as well as balance and coordination.

The fastest would be after this year but more realistically at least after two years. Do not get discouraged if you're not put en pointe in a year because most teachers don't recommend that because you still need to learn the basic moves. Ballet is kind of like building a building. If you don't have the foundation to build off of, you're pretty much screwed in the long run.

    Good luck!

  7. It could be a year, it could be 11 years (that's me!). I've been dancing consecutively for 11 years, and I just got on pointe. Sorry to burst your bubble, but because of starting this late, unless you work really hard, you may never get to pointe.

  8. It all depends on how strong your arches are.

Make sure you work your feet really hard in all your classes.

Also see if you can take another couple of classes, it will help you to get on pointe faster.

It does take a while to get on pointe, and as you're only taking lessons once a week, it could take up to 3 years depending on the strength of your feet.

    Work hard, you'll make it.

  9. i only did ballet for a year before i got on pointe but before i did ballet i did tap, jazz, and hiphop for 2 years and in ballet i payed very close attention and streched everyday
