  1. Just keep doing it they will get used to you and your company.  My rats responded to my voice after a while.

    Brilliant pets btw.

  2. just let them get accustomed to you before you try and pick them up...

  3. try encouraging them with a little food. they'll get used to you handling them. Let them smell you first (make sure you don't smell like their food because sometimes they get confused and bite - quite rare) then try patting them and hold them - let them run all over you for a while . As they get more used to you you'll be able to lay there and snuggle them. they are best!

  4. It's different for every rat.  Just pick them up, hold them for a little while, and then put them back in the cage with a extra-yummy treat.  Eventually, they'll understand that being around you means treats.  Also, just spending time around their cage and talking to them will get them more used to you, too.

Just don't try giving them treats through the bars of the cage, as that can encourage them to start nipping at fingers through the bars.

  5. first let them sniff you and make them get used to your scent .

after just keep picking them up and pet them where they loved to be petted (that is usually under the chin, behind the ears or the tummy)

and the after a while they will get used to it.

(PS i own two rats and im getting a third one today)

  6. stick your hand in the cage and let them come smell it...also you could let them come to you...do be stock still because you dont want to scare them when you go to lift them or if they get real close and then you move your fingers...

  7. put your hand in their cage with some food on it, and let them come over to you and take the food off you. when i got my rats, i took one of them out the second day, and he was fine. ive had them both for about 2 months, but 1 of them is still nervous.

  8. well that's normal at 3 days

  9. Feed them to a ball python

  10. the way i did it was by talking to them and giving them treats but your hands in the cage let them sniff and slowly they will climb up your hands but dont force them as they dont forget that easy once they understand your not a predator they will jump in your hands and snuggle up and play

  11. Get them use to you with treats, hand feed them carefully,in the cage and pet them. They will soon identify you with positive reinforcement. Then you should be able to put treats in your palm and have them crawl on your hand, etc. may take 3 or 4 days, be patient, have fun and good luck.
