  1. Go back to the doctor and find out. Try Ibuprofen(Advil) for the pain

  2. The pain, take a couple of Tylenol. Get your self some bone-set tea. Brew it up and add some honey to it. The stuff tastes REALLY nasty, but it will reduce the swelling and the time it takes the bone to set.

I learned this from a stunt man, and it really does help.

  3. it will probably take about 6 weeks.

  4. Tape the pinkie to the ring finger, or use the same kind of bandage. When you finally get that soft cast off, probably in two to three weeks, start soaking your hand in some hot water with Epsom Salt added to it, follow the directions on the bag. Do this two to three times a day. It will help with any pain you may be still having, which you will have some, and well, it just makes the hand feel good.  Your finger could be wrapped to tight, and maybe you will have to call the Doctor who did the work and have it loosened. There are also finger splints made of plastic, with slits on the side that just slips onto the finger and will keep it straight or if you bump it, there will be no pain. You put some tape around the splint to hold it together, the slits adjust to your pleasure of how it feels, tight or loose. Take some Ibuprofen 600 Mg's for the pain. An ice pack or heating pad may also help. Wishing you the very best young lady and that you heal nicely with no major after affects. Good luck.

  5. 4-6 weeks trust me i broke my arm it sux but feels great when the cast is off

  6. I currently have the same injury.  I broke it on a punching bag with no gloves on.

My experience has been a ot different than yours, however.  I saw a hand specialist, and he recommended, in order to make sure the bone heals correctly with no future problems, that I have surgery to place 2 pins in to hold the bone in place until it heals.  It has been 4 weeks since I broke the bone and had surgery, and the pins come out next week.  I have a HARD cast on my hand.

Although your break might be different and less severe than mine, I would think you would at least need a hard cast to keep the hand immobilized while it healed.

I would suggest you get a second opinion, especially from a hand specialist if you can.  Looking though your phone book, or asking your current doctor for a referral to a hand specialist just to be sure would be a good idea.  You don't want to regret this 50 years from now when you can't pick up your grandchildren because of a stupid bone break that didn't heal properly.

  7. You should go check again for the soft cast, because you need the pinky to be straight and stiff so it can heal. If you can move and bend your pinky in the cast, then you know you need to get a new one. It would take around six weeks, depending on how you broke it, but you should look into the sturdier cast. Hope i helped, and heal well!

  8. I'll bet the Dr explained all this to you, you just don't remember.  Have yet to  have  a Dr just come in and treat a broken bone and say absolutely nothing.

He's the one w/the answers  this time.  Not us.

  9. Usually between 6 to 8 weeks, unless you have osteoporosis, then it can take as long as 3 to 4 months.

It's been 9 weeks and I'm still feeling the pain from the broken ribs. I fell out of our fig tree while picking figs.

    Advil is a good anti-inflammatory.

I don't recommend Tylenol to anyone because it puts such a strain on the liver.
