I didnt buy a supersport bike because I knew it would be too risky to learn on it initially, and many ppl discouraged me form doing so. I currently have a Ninja 650r which is more of a sport touring bike.

Anways, roughly how long or how many miles would be an adequate amount till it is recommended to juimp and buy a supersport bike such as a gsxr600, cbr600 or ninja zx6r???

  1. The Ninja 650R is only about 20 horsepower less than the ZX 6R.  If you really feel the need to move up to a more powerful bike, just make sure that you're ready and have gained all the skills you'll need to control it.  Nobody can really tell you when you'll be ready, it's something you will have to judge.  I would keep the 650 for at least a year or 2, depending how often you're able to ride it.  At that point, if you feel that you have gained the skill to upgrade to a super sport bike, then go for it.  Consider looking into some advanced rider training courses.  There are a few of them out there and they'll help you along with improving your riding skills.

  2. I'd say stick with your current bike for a season, once you feel confident in your riding abilities, move up to a literbike, a 600 won't be powerful enough...

  3. well its taking me 10 years to get to a blackbird 1100xx

    started with a gs500  sv650 bandit1200 fireblade

  4. I went from a Harley Sportster 883 to a Ninja ZX6R in less than 6 months.

If I had to do it all over again, I could of and would of started right off with the ZX6R.

If you are riding a 650R now, there is no reason why you couldn't handle a super-sport.  It took me only a few minutes to get used to the change from cruiser to sport bike, so since you already ride a sport style bike, you should be okay and just realize that a super-sport is alot faster and that power shouldn't be mishandled.

The real thing that may affect you the most will be the insurance hike on a super-sport bike.

  5. I went straight for the CBR600 as my first bike and i'm still alive and haven't dropped it yet.

Just got to take your time and be careful whilst you get used to it.

  6. you have to ask yourself... do you really need all of that bike?

remember, no rider will ever exceed the preformance of ANY motorcycle...

I guess when you feel confident enough to step up to something that will tempt your urge to break the law.

  7. Mileage is not reliable, Biker's build by experiences on the road, give yourself couple of month to study the cultures of other road user, and couple of months again to check bikes out from dealer instead of internet, feel the bike yourself not seeing photos or images. Until then around 8 to 9 month you'll spent, and a few more months to save money to buy your dream bike.(Hopefully by that time you're more experience on the road)

Suzuki GSXR is a good choice and alway being a good choices, CBR6 RR or RRR high petrol consumption and sensitive engine spec, but lucky this 2 brand mentioned can have OEM version spareparts.

Kawasaki.......good bike but sort of a problem to get parts.....also performance so-so.....but.....it's still depending on yourself, what I can do is giving advise.

  8. I would think when you felt comfortable in riding and handling the bike.  I wonder if that super sport bike that your talking about, isn't it going to be heavier and faster

  9. What do you mean "miles"? Stick around on yours for a year, and if you're still alive and all in one piece think about getting a Gixer.

  10. best thing is to ride what you currently have for a season or 2 and then upgrade to a super-sport bike this will give you time to improve upon your riding skills before moving up to this type of bike ,ride safe and keep the rubber side down
