How long to barbeque a blue whale?

How long will it take to barbeque an entire blue whale on a skewer type device, like they roast hogs?

Let's say it's been gutted, skinned, and some of the major bones have been removed. Also most of outer blubber removed as well, so it won't catch on fire.

Could it be done? How many people could it feed?

Would it end world hunger?

  1. that's impossible to catch a blue whale then BBQ it

  2. ask the j**s, they like whales.

  3. shut up! they are already endangered and you are like......

  4. Try to catch a blue whale in the pacific ocean if you caught one barbecue it. Then tell me how long you barbecued the blue whale.

  5. That's just silly.  You can't spit-roast it straight away.

I've only ever tried to BBQ an orca, which I guess would be similar.  We had to roast it first by digging a massive coal pit on the beach and cooking it in there for 3 or 4 hours.  Then you only winch it out, skewer it and put it on the actual BBQ when you're nearly ready to serve.  That way, you know it's all cooked and safe to eat, yet it still gets the BBQ taste.  If you're going for a blue whale, I'd go for a juvenile just for practicality.  You'll still have plenty of meat on it, and you won't need such a big crane.  Good luck.

  6. depends, you want it well done or rare
