How long to build house?

On average how long does it take to build a "stick" built house? (assuming no delays with the contractors)

How long does it take to build a RTM or modular house at the builders site?

That is an easy question that only requires a little math along with measurements for the square footage wanted. When you have your dimensions, just add the upgrades and establish what level of quality and finish.

For the formal foundation, footings, framing and exterior finish you will have only six to eight weeks then it is up to finishes that can also add up to six or more weeks depending on how exquisite you want to be.

Overall you can count realistically 4 months, providing you already have your building permit and contractor pickep. Styles, spec home and or pateo homes are all similar timewise.

Good luck in your venture, and my suggestion is get a notebook and start writing your options, datelines and deadlines, you will need it for sure.

How fancy is your house? An elaborate custom house could be 2 years. Of course, you won't be using any RTM or modular construction for a fancy custom house.

Right now, contractors are hurting for work so they'll stay on the job to collect the payments.

As for how long to make your house, I would take the dimensions of the lot and subtract the government-imposed setbacks, and your house can be that long.

It all depends on where you live and how much your paying the contractors to work faster. Depending on the size of the home and the lot difficulty you're looking at anywhere from 7-12 months. You also have to factor in if you have the proper permits, which can take 3-7 weeks. But once that's taken care of, it  probably would just take 7 months.

Also with this economy, contractors, handy men, painters, plumbers...etc. are all looking for jobs so work is easy to find.
