How long to charge a new blackberry pearl 8120?

I just got a new blackberry pearl 8120 and I want to know how long I have to charge it....I want my battery life to be at it's longest. some say 14 hours some say a full day, others say to discharge the battery fully 1-3 times then charge o.O whats the real way?

the first time mine was with the 8120 off and overnight, it was about 7 hours. then i repeated this the first 3-4 time when i would get to a low battery light. blackberries use a li-ion battery so, dont let it discharge till the phone turns off on its own.
