How long to collect from gameshow winnings??

-Has anyone ever won $$ from a gameshow, and how long did it take to get your check, and how did the check come to you???

I never won, but lived in Burbank, Ca. for a while........and always heard you had to pay the taxes in full before you recieved anything........money or prizes..............
