My partner and I are trying for another baby, The first time it took 9 months to fall pregnant after coming off the pill. I have now been off the pill for 4 months and still nothing (4 years taking the pill), does anyone know how long it should take (I know everyone is different) And I know that I had a small cyst on one of my ovarlies when I was pregnant with my daughter would this be a problem?

  1. I had a cyst too after 2 years of BC, it was removed. After 3 years of BC, we started trying. It's been 5 months, and I'm pretty sure I'm about 3 weeks pregnant now. But yeah, the pill does seem to mess you up. I don't think that the cyst would mess you up though unless it's still there. You might check with a doc!

  2. It can take between 12-18mnths. Yes the ovarian cyst can in fact stop to ovary from ovulating, which would therefore extend the time it takes to fall pregnant. However you do have 2 ovaries.

Head for 12 months and maybe have an ultrasound in the meantime to ease yr mind. Remember to relax.

    Good luck.

  3. It depends on the individual really.  Some women can get pregnant the first month of being off of the pill and others it takes a little while.  We've been TTC #4 for 3 years now and unfortunately we've suffered 4 miscarriages along the way.  I haven't been on the pill for 13 years now.

A cyst will not hurt your conception chances at all.  It might make it a bit harder to conceive because you'll have to wait until the other ovary releases an egg.

  4. after coming off the pill in can take some time to become pregnant again since your body has to adjust. it could take anywhere from a few months to a year or more...just be patient and relax. Normally when you try too hard, you get disappointed more often. Good luck to you..

If the cyst was a big issue, im sure the doctor would have mentioned something to you, but if you are concerned, speak with him about it.

  5. It took me 8 month with first then same time with 2nd and third..so it may be same with you....I'm trying for #4 now and been trying for 7 months as for the cyst have you asked your gp about that b/c if i was worried i would ask... sorry but i wouldn't know

  6. Generally if you do not fall pregnant after a year of trying you should see a fertility doc.

If u struggled for the first pregnancy, maybe u should go earlier. Many people do not realise how common secondary infertility is..ie difficulty in conceiving a second child.

If you are in your 30's I would see a fertility doc.
