  1. Absolutely not. You must wait for your visa before coming to Australia. Regardless of what applications you have made or which processes you've undertaken, if you arrive here without a visa you will be put on a plane and sent back at your own expense.

As you have been put through your health and police checks, it shouldn't be much longer before you get your visa if everything checked out OK.  Your case worker may be able to tell you, but in any case, you should be OK for August, but there is no way of speeding up the process if it looks like taking any longer.

    EDIT:

In most cases, getting a new visa cancels any previous visas, so don't take any chances. Get something in writing from DIAC that's it's OK if you're thinking of getting a visitor visa to come here first.

  2. No you must get your visa before you enter Australia!

  3. Not sure if this will really help - I am in the process of getting a 457 sponsored visa, which is probably not going to be finalised before August. However, in order for me to get out there and set my family up an a new home, it has been suggested that I get a business ETA.

I will be agreeing not to do any actual work before the full 457 is completed, but the ETA should give me up to 3 months to settle in:

  4. Getting a visa into Australia is REALLY hard!! It took my family nearly a year! You need to have some kind of talent/needed skill. If you are a doctor or teacher you have a really good chance. My parents are both work in the tourist industry, this really helped them. You can't stay in australia for more that 4months a year (of a figure close to that) so, no you cant move before you get your visa! Good Luck though!

  5. you can not enter Australia until your visa has been granted,if you haven't heard from immigration yet it means the decision has not been made yet to grant your visa

it can take up to 12 months sometimes longer to process a visa

  6. You'll need your visa first. You can't get in Australia if you don't have your visa with you :P

An Australian skilled visa generally takes 6 to 12 months processing time :)

You can check out the requirements here: http://www.nationalvisas.com.au/skilled/...

    Good luck with the visa!

  7. No you need to be outside of Australia when your visa is granted.
