The New Horizons spaceship is on its way to Pluto (from Earth obviously).  It was launched 19JAN2006.  It will arrive 14JUL2015.  That's nine years, and it's actually a lot faster than the Voyager probes went to the gas giants.

Pluto wasn't discovered until 1930. The closest point of Pluto to earth is 2.66 billion miles (4.28 billion km). Since we can't travel at the speed of light it would take approximately 40 years to reach Pluto with the technology we have today.

The U.S. is launching Pluto-Kuiper Express around the turn of the century and figure it will reach Pluto in 10 years because it's smaller and the planets are aligned differently than when the Voyager traveled to the outskirts of Pluto
