  1. If you need to ask this question here it is a sign that you don't know anywhere near enough to be breeding.

Please go do some serious research on responsible breeding.

    Start here:

    http://learntobreed.com/

    http://woodhavenlabs.com/breeding.html

    http://dogplay.com/breeding/index.html

EDIT: Sorry, if you don't know the answer to this question you have not done ENOUGH research.

  2. How old is she?

If you're serious about breeding you need to do a lot of research

    Has she been health tested?

Find a mentor (hopefully your girls breeder would be willing to help you)

  3. You should really read up on this subject before letting your dog get pregnant.  Some dogs die giving birth to their puppies - are you willing to risk your pet's life in order to see her have puppies?  If you are thinking you can make some money from the puppies, you won't.  Between vet bills for her and for the puppies, you will be lucky if you break even.

Why did you want to breed her anyway?

  4. They are MANY problems with breeding dogs or any pets really, its probably best to contact you dogs breeder & find out all info about breeding dogs BEFORE mating her.At least 2-3 years for the first litter,no younger please don't just breed her now because she is in season. You haven't stated how old she is,& no the female comes into "heat" or when she will except a male is about 7-10 days into the heat/period.

Though make sure you have every thing prepared, you know ALL the stuff needed also make sure if your crossing that the male is same size or smaller(if he can be) as larger dogs(males) used for breeding can result in the female not being able to give birth to them, which an operation is needed. I take it you have found a stud dog? To make sure you catch the "mating period" introduce them now & keeping meeting them up,as often as possible. When shes ready she will except him. Please DON'T just breed her because shes in season & sorry but if you have researched into breeding dogs, why don't you know when they are ready to mate?? Do more research before you breed.

Hope this helps &Good luck x*x

**EDIT** I agree with "shih tzu lover" as you don't know much about breeding dogs otherwise you wouldn't post this.

Just research so you will be perfect at it rather than breeding for money or whatever.

Sorry but i am just trying to help.

  5. JUST GET HER SPAYED!!!!

  6. I hope you don't.  They are UGLY dogs.  Don't bring more of them into the world.

  7. You breed her after she's proven herself in shows, is 2years + and has had all the necessary health tests done to ensure she doesn't produce puppies with genetic problems.

You have obviously not done loads of 'reasurch' (research) if you don't know the answer to this.

  8. look at your answers,,you should not be asking this,,you don't have any knowledge of the most basic thing!! get her spayed,,its for the best,,,or are you out for breeding for the money,,,if so i would change your name because nobody will want to help you again if that's so,,it looks that way to me.

  9. I'm with James on this one.

I work in a rescue centre - we have so many dogs that we have to turn them away. A lot of these are pedigrees, and dogs are killed every day because there isn't space for them.

Please, if you know anyone looking for a dog, direct them to their nearest rescue - there are chihuahuas there (we had one last week) and all breeds come in.

Please don't add more dogs to a world where there aren't enough homes, and people think they can dump animals when they get bored.

  10. first of all how old is she? if she is not 2 yrs old you r only asking for problems, second if she is two and she just started she will not accept a male till the end of her cycle...they stay in their cycle for about 2-3 weeks depending on the b****.. Third is your dog of breed quality...all test done on the spacific genetic problems that they can pass down to pups...get a mentor in breeding and do alot of reserch on it as well..

  11. If you don't know the right time to breed her, then you shouldn't be breeding her at all.

Chi's often have complicated pregnancies and require a C-Section in order to deliver ($1000-$2500 depending on where you live and if it's planned or an emergency).

You need to fully research breeding and find yourself a mentor, or your lack of knowledge could end up costing your b*tch her life.

Edit - Sorry, but you haven't done enough research if you don't know the right time in her cycle to breed her!

  12. Short answer - by the sounds of it never.  By now, if you have gone about this seriously, you should have been in touch with the owner of a suitable stud dog and especially if you are a novice, she will have told you all you need to know to be able to breed a good litter of puppies.  Otherwise, forget it.  Book her in to be spayed asap.

Sorry to be negative, but there are enough puppies available from reputable breeders without a contribution from your little girl.  And one more thing - producing puppies can put a dam at risk.  It's not all aaaah puppies.  And one more, one more thing - it's a lot of hard work!

  13. If you don't already know the answer, then you do not need to be breeding your Chihuahua! If you don't know exactly what you are doing, your Chihuahua can and probably will die, trying to whelp (deliver) her puppies. Chihuahuas are known to have complications during birth, and if you don't know how to spot a complication, assist the mother and her puppies, during a complication, and when it's time to get her to the vet, for  a C-Section, then I guarantee you, she and her puppies will die. If  you really love her, and you don't want to take the risk of her and her puppies dying, then you will do the right thing, and get her Spayed immediately. If you have a male, you also need to have him Neutered!Leave the breeding to the professionals, who know exactly what they are doing, and who are breeding for the right reasons! I used to breed Chihuahuas, but before I bred any of my dogs, I researched everything, for years, I knew exactly what I was doing, how to spot complications, how to assist the mother and her puppies during delivery etc. None of mine ever needed C-Sections, because I knew what to do, if there was a problem like a Breech Puppy, etc... I never lost a mother or any of the puppies. I already had homes screened and waiting for the puppies, before they were even conceived!  All of my males are now Neutered and All of my females are now Spayed! You obviously don't know anything about breeding, if you are asking a simple question like this. Don't breed her, or you will regret it for the rest of your life, if something goes wrong,  because of the fact that you don't have any experience or knowledge in breeding. Getting her Spayed now, would be the most loving thing that you can do for her. If you want to have her around for a long time and enjoy her, then Please, for her sake, do the right thing, and get her Spayed NOW, before it's too late!!!

EDIT: I just read your additional details. You say you have done research. You obviously have not done enough, because if you had, you would have already known the answer to the question you asked!

  14. Please get your dog spayed.

  15. There are thousands of pet dogs just like your lovely Chihuahua in shelters or in bad homes as you sit there today.  Each one deserves a home just as much as yours does.  Every new dog you bring into the world takes away a home for one of those deserving pets.  Don't do them an injustice by creating more pet dogs.
