  1. If you are talking about a NEW car you won't be able to get the car registered without insurance.  At least that is true in NYS and most of the state in east coast.  I suspect it is try in Cali.

But either way, driving around without insurance is just crazy.  If you pay $700 for insurance for 1 year, that only $2 per day.  So if you were to drive it around saving few dollars a day and risk thousands of dollars in car value.

    Good Luck...

  2. Some people have a term on their insurance of another car that if they get another car the newly bought car is insured for 30 days. you could just call up your insurance agent and ask about that.

  3. If you have no current insurance, then you must have it before you drive off.  Where else would it be covered?  Once insured, if you buy another car or trade your current one, in most states, you would have automatic coverage for a period of time.  Some companies are different, however.  Always ask an agent first and get something in writing.  I don't trust oral coverage commitments unless I have a relationship with an agent.

  4. now!!

  5. no you have to have insurance on the car or on you before you even start driving the car.

no 30 day policy or whatever thats a load of b.s.

the only thing that you have time to do is get tags on the car. that policy may be 30 days i don't know

  6. I would not take a chance.....call your insurance company and ask them. If you have a loan on the car then the lender usually wants you covered the minute you get the car. If you are trading in a car then most companies have a grace period to get the information to them. Jn the day when insurance companies will do anything to get out of paying a claim, you don't want to get caught with your pants down.

  7. You must have insurance when driving your car.  No grace period.  You cannot even drive the car home legally without insurance.

Most dealerships will include 30 days worth of insurance in the price of the car, so that you can start driving it right away after you buy it.  But ask to make sure.

  8. getting a car without the insurance is like buying the car without the wheels.  You need insurance to protect you and your family, assets in the event of an accident which happen every day, even to the best drivers.  If you can't afford the insurance, then don't afford the car.  You will regret it

  9. well the sooner you get it the sooner you are safe. technically you could go around uninsured for a while but if you get hit your paying for that out of your own pocket instead of a deductible with your insurance company. besides it doesnt take very long to get approved for insurance in most cases. you can sometimes get approved the same day, especially if your dealing with the same company you had before.

  10. The car insurance should be in place before the car is driven off the lot.
