  1. I got to use the phone twice while in Basic for 18 weeks. Both were for about 7-10 minutes, we had 4 payphones and 24 people...

  2. Generally, While in Recruit Training, RECRUITS(they are not yet Marines) don't usually receive phone calls. Some Drill Instructors (and it is totally up to the individual senior drill instructor) they will use phone calls home as an incentive for the recruits to win initial drills, score highest in PFT, have the highest Quals on the range and so forth. Be thankful you received a phone call, but don't be expectant of another one.

  3. Considering there is a line of 10 to 15 guys at each phone waiting to use it and a limited amount of free time. I'd say it's about standard.

  4. While in Marine boot camp they do Not get phone calls. Just letters.

  5. Sometimes he'll get lucky and nobody else will want to use the phone.  If that's the case, he'll get more time.  On the avg, during the 1st 3 wks of tng, 2-5 minutes is reasonable.
