  1. I've been in a lot of bar touraments with two tables, single elim, 16-players and it took four to five hours. All players were 4-5-6 speed. These were '8' ball events. If things balance out (the better players running out when the table is wide open) that will cut down time. But when the lesser players keep missing and hooking their opponent by accident it will take more than 10-minutes per game. All this is assuming that you are going by "tournament" rules. "Bar" rules are different. This might give you an idea of how long it would take for one table.

If you are promoting a 3-out-of-5 double elimination with less than average ability players, on one table, better set aside the month of June. Better make it December because it'll be a d**n cold day before I get into another one of those.

'9' ball may not take as long as every 2-level, 3-level player I've ever played goes for every 1-9, 2-9, 3-9 combo they can find. Lost more games to those sissies than I care to remember.

  2. painfully long...and about three times more painfully long if best of three game matches...you should go to a pool room or bar and see if you can rent the tables while people drink and eat...then see if you can run one that lasts a couple to 3 hours tops...ive played in tournaments in big pool rooms that have 64 entries playing double elimination ball in hand 9 ball and even with all kinds of tables it took all day...

  3. With one table??? Oh my god this would take all day and night ...better pack a lunch. ha.ha. Well it mainly depends on what game is being played. A nineball tournament shouldnt take as long as an eightball tournament. "Best out of three games" will indeed be longer than a "single game" system. I would at least set aside 5 to 6 hours for this tournament on one table. Good luck.

  4. There are several other factors to take into account.  What game are you playing?  Rotation games like 7-ball and 9-ball tend to be quicker.  8-ball and one-pocket take a little longer.  Straight pool takes the longest on average.  Regardless of the game, DJKX 1 is correct.  This could take all day.  Single-elimination, best of three games would the most efficient way to go, although maybe not the most fair format.  If you had two tables operating at the same time, you might be able to get away with double-elimination.  The term "average players" is a little vague also.  Skill level and experience doesn't always correspond to playing speed.  Players of all abilities play at different speeds.  I've played in local tournaments with a double-elimination format with around sixteen players on about 6 tables, and it would still take about 4-5 hours to do it.

  5. Three years!!......with average or above average players.......play one game.....nine ball being the last ball in......no."slop".......it absolutely has to be the last one made.....if one has to knock it in....it comes out and spotted and the shooter shoots from where the balls finished when he sank it in.......if not, I  let me know how it came out .......in 2010!

  6. With one table and average players (single games) it could take all day. Best of 3 would definately be a long day.

It would be  30 matches, so figure on each game taking maybe 10 min. average. So if you hurry with single games you might get 5 0r 6 an hour. So lets go with around 5 or 6 hours for single games, and best of 3 will take about 2.5 times that long. so maybe 12-14 hours is reasonable.

  7. ok,,,i was in one ,just like this,,,took us two days, double elim,,,we went from 7-midnight,,,then came back to go 7-11:15,,before it finished,,,and all the players were 5-7 in a scale of 1-10 players,,and i was in a best of 3,,with 9 players,,single elim,,,took about 7 hours,,double elim may take 3 days or more,,depending on how lucky some people get...
