Question:

How long will a cat limp?

We recently adopted two of the cutest little kittens. My husband was taking out the trash this evening and was worried about them getting out. As kitty 2 was coming towards the open part of the door, he gently pushed her back and closed it, not realizing that kitty 1 had her paw at the other end of the door. He closed it a little on her but opened it right up when she cried. She's walking on it, but limping. She let me touch it and only pulled back a little bit. Should I take her to the vet? How long will she limp if it's just hurt? I don't have the money to take her to the vet unless she really needs to go, but I will take her if she needs to. Anyone know what I should look for?

  1. Minor injuries usually resolve for the most part within 24 hours.  If the kitten is putting weight on the foot that's a good sign, even if she's favoring it.  Just give her lots of love and cuddling, and see how she is in the morning.
