Question:

How long will a liquid laxative stay in my system?

Okay, here's the story... So I'm set to do a flexible sigmoidoscopy (which, in a nutshell, is like a less extensive colonoscopy) tomorrow morning at noon. I have a wedding to attend in the evening. I'm supposed to take a liquid laxative today at 6 PM (so really soon), stop eating at midnight, and do two enemas in the morning. The procedure is supposed to take about five minutes.

So.... What I'm wondering is... Will the laxative stay in my system for the wedding tomorrow? I don't want to be sitting, watching my uncle getting married and need to suddenly p**p.

  1. Relax...your body won't retain the laxative that long.  It will drain out, along with everything short of your brains (you'll see what I mean about 8:00 pm)  The enemas will complete the process in the morning.

I wouldn't worry about the wedding.  Just eat something so you don't faint before the wedding.
