What is the life expectancy of a publically used swimming pool

For residential pools it all depends on what type. Most gunite/concrete pool should last at least 20 years if properly maintained. If, by publically used pool, you mean a large community pool then it should last 30+ years if properly taken care of. My company just demolished and rebuilt a 300,000 gallon community pool that was built in 1961. So in this case 47 years. The pool shell itself was okay but the community wanted to go with a different design. The biggest problem was the old copper plumbing.

I guess it depends on how often it is cleaned and what goes on there..?
