  1. 2 years in Early Childhood Education should get you the job but obviously the further you go with it the easier it will be

  2. You need a degree in Early Childhood Education. a Bachelor's Degree...college for 4 years

  3. Many years ago I started as an assistant teacher in a preschool.

Then I worked in the office of the preschool and did lots of subbing in the school. It became important to me to have a certification of some sort so I took the CDA program and have that. It helped in getting a teacher position at another school with better pay. I am sure higher degrees make it easier and maybe more pay.

  4. You can be an assistant without a degree. Sometimes common sense and life experience is much better. Call a couple of preschools in your area and ask the director.

  5. You can get an Associate degree in Early Childhood Education in two years. That can be completed at a community college, and you could get a job, but your opportunities would be much better if you finished your Bachelor's degree in ECE - that's a 4-year degree.

To become a supervisor or a director of a daycare, and to get the highest pay!- you'll need the Bachelor's degree.

  6. It depends on what kind of preschool teacher.

I am a preschool teacher of children with disabilities.  I am required to have a degree in education or special education.

The preschool teachers of typically developing students in my county (who are working in the public school system) have their CDA or CDAT.  I believe that credential is 4-6 classes at the community college.  In the county next to mine, their preschool teachers have at least a 4 year degree.

If you are wanting to work at a daycare/preschool type setting, I believe all you need is a 40 hour class.  Every state is different.  I am in Florida.  I have a BS and an MA.  I am certified to teach PreK-6th grade and Special Ed.

It's amazing how every state is different.

  7. A Degree in a core subject (English, Maths, etc) and then a PGCE (if you live in England)

  8. You should only need an AA, so two years.  Maybe you could even find a certificate program that takes less time than that.  Check community colleges and the requirements for certification in your area.
