Question:

How long will it be before Qantas has a major crash?

It is only a matter of time as a lot of maintanance in now done in Asia.

Unfortunately it is not up to Australian or European standard.

There have been many major dramas with Qantas over the last few years since they decided to get "cheap" maintanance done overseas.

Within 2-3 years there will be a crash. Any bets?

  1. Qantas has one of the best safety records..no actual crashes on record. Plenty of incidents but it is Australias national airline so it would be suprising if they didnt have any at all.

  2. I hope it never happens although I do watch Air Crash Investigation and concede that it is possible, however, I'm not prepared to have a wager on such events.

  3. No, let's not even put that out there

  4. Unfortunately the law of averages says it will happen.

Every time a plane goes into the air it is a roll of the dice.

Qantas's number will eventually come up.

  5. i believe qantas want have a crash but the emercgy that have happen to qantas are really bad

    1. the hole in 747

    2. the doors would closer on 734 happen in sa

    3. the flight from nsw to nt had problems

    THEY NEED MORE WORKERS

  6. Only crash qantus will have will be due to terrorism, not faulty planes.

Who says they are not up to standard, from what the media has reported it was due to an explosion from an aerosol can, that means a passenger packed it. Dah, they do have warnings about that when you fly. Although the media may not be right as I am sure many people have packed these items in the past.

  7. i wish never, but with all the incidents happening recently...i hope that qantas can do something before the worst happens.

  8. I hope that it would never crash and don't jinx it. I don't bet on people lives.

  9. How long is a piece of string? Qantas has the best service record around the world. Just because of cut backs etc, doesn't mean they will start falling from the sky. god willing, it won't happen. More than likely it won't.

  10. Qantas should never have been sold off,it's only a matter of time.

  11. Very unlikely due to a mechanical problem, maybe from torrorists, but every airline faces that problem.

Overseas maintenance is a worry, they just don't have the skills, but if overseen by Aussie LAMEs it should not be too bad.

It is a case of history catching up with Qantas, they had the same cracks in the tails that Ansett did in their 767s and yet did not get grounded. They were not serious or dangerous, but one person with a grudge against Ansett had them grounded and cost 16,000 workers their jobs.
