Louisiana as a whole is in no danger of washing away.  

The coastline of Louisiana is suffering from erosion problems caused by human activity.  The problem is particularly evident in southeastern Louisiana because levees were buiilt to prevent the annual flooding of the Mississippi River. The levees had the unintended effect of allowing salt water into fresh water swamps & marshes, causing the vegetation to die and adding to coastal erosion.

The state and federal governments are working to reduce and even reverse the erosion of the coastline.

It is disappearing right now.   It's not going to all go away at once, not like anything else, but gradually.
