Surely, this success can’t possibly be down to the dedication of the athletes themselves more being spurred on by the ‘positive’ and dynamic leadership of Gordon Brown!

Rt Hon Andy Burnham MP

Secretary of State for Culture, Media & Sport

Rt Hon Margaret Hodge MBE MP

Minister for Culture, Creative Industries & Tourism

Gerry Sutcliffe MP

Minister for Sport

Tessa Jowell is Olympics Minister, working out of Cabinet Office.

Your timing estimates please!

  1. They already have - but all the bad things that have happened are somebody else's fault - probably paedophiles.

  2. They do have a role to play though.

Without the resources to train, sponsors etc., you could have a gold-standard athlete, but without the chance to get to the Olympics.

  3. Yes they always take credit for someone else's hard work.

  4. You know!I am expecting Gordon Brown to come up with something like this and ride on the backs of our talented sports men and women! That man will do anything to cling onto power! But the British electorate are up to him and his schemes!

Why doesn't He and his fellow band of fellow cabinet cretins invite the families of the bereaved service men and women who are dieing day by day in Iraq and Afghanistan! In their name! Why does he not be photographed with those honest tragic people!

The man will do just about anything to cling onto power!

    Shame on Brown!

  5. they should take no part in the athletes success. In fact what any government should be doing is putting in as much money into the facilities, and training for future champions not just for 2012. And that goes for all sports centres, somewhere young people can channel their energies, and maybe we would see a resurrection in our athletics, same as they have done to the cycling.

  6. Yes, and if we had done badly "Global Conditions" would have been cited !!! lol.

  7. Didn`t they start doing that after the first medal was won?

  8. That success has come about because of huge spending

So to some degree the government are responsible.

  9. how many of these British medal winners have you ever heard of?

    how boring is this games,

    what are the chinky's hiding,

is this not a copy of the 36 games?

do you want our government to spend billions of our taxes on building an Olympic city in Britain that will end up being another costly mistake like the dome

I would rather spend that money on our collapsing infrastructure, and repatriation of unneeded immigrants, not to build Olympic structures that will house even more when this unneeded mumpers, after the games of 2012 are over

  10. It's funny you asking this, I was voicing the same question to my family yesterday. However, I see from todays paper that after the Athens games there has been a massive investment from the National Lottery as well as changed coaching/ management techniques and facilities, THAT is what is paying off now. I expect Gordon Brown will claim credit though, after all it is known as Team GB!
