I'm looking at running a 10K event in my area this fall (later August), but I've never run one before. What is the best pratice to get in shape for it? I play ultimate (frisbee) twice a week, and I want to start going to the gym more often, but I'm not much of a runner (something which I want to work past). My diet is fairly healthy (80% healthy, 20% not)...any suggestions as far as training guidelines and diet guidelines for the next 6 weeks or so?

this is the website i found it on

    good luck on your run

  2. Ultimate frisbee, lifting weights, cycling, diets, getting new shoes... None of those things will really help you in running a 10K. Running and more running is what you need. You need to run 4-5X a week. Where you should start depends on what kind of shape you're in now.. People always wants to know what non-running thing will help them with running... the only real answer is more running.

You could be readyin 6 weeks, depending on where you're at now.
