How long will it take for my horse's mane to grow back after roaching it?

Im thinking of roaching my horses mane to about 2 or 3 inches,just enough to stick straight up and down. But I don't want to ruin his mane. If I do, how long will it take to grow back?

It depends on his genetics and nutrition.  Some horses just don't grow hair very fast or thick because of genetics.  Horses that do not have high quality nutrition are not going to grow hair very quickly either.

My gelding's bridle path will grow from nothing (clipped down to the skin) to 1-2 inches long in just over a month...and all our other horses seem to grow hair at about the same rate.
