  1. f***s in a septic tank should be digested by bacteria within a couple of weeks.  In an urban sewer line, they may take a week to reach a sewage treatment plant.  Mechanical agitation, aeration, and bacterial action are generally complete within 10 days or so.  Food scraps take considerably longer, even if they went through a food processor.
