I need to be downtown for work at 9am. Considering that I live about 45 minutes north of downtown (with no traffic) what time should I leave to get there around 9?

  1. 7:50

  2. Non-drivers.  Assuming you are going by car, I would allow at least 2 hours during the first month of employment until you can figure out what the other drivers are doing.  There are always rush hour jams at I94/I696, I94/I75 and this one extends past the I96 going south, as well as the I69/I275/MI14 interchange.  If you are taking public transit, the times will be different.  If the 45 minutes is based on public transit, still go with the 2 hours for the first week.  You don't want to be late.  Better to be early and sit around the coffee machine until starting time than to be late.

  3. where you coming from? that would be helpful!
