  1. define "play perfectly"

    you'll know some things, and have much more to learn

  2. about 3 days you can memorize 8-10 basic chords like d,e,c,f.a.b.g,e#m,dm,f#m,dm,etc. but if you feel you hve this kind of talent it would not take long for you to learn.not just like me i realy love playing guitar but until now i cant play without cords of the song.there are someone playing guitar without knowing what are the chords that they are pressing.my wife playing guitar so well but she doesnt know how to read a chords.

  3. I tHiNk To pLaY pErFeCtLy It WoUld TaKe AbOuT 13 YeArS bUt To gEt ThE hAnG oF iT pRobAbLy 1 yEaR.

  4. It depends on your speed of learning & practice.

  5. Perfectly" is defined and as: you know all your

    - Major

    - Minor

    - Suspended

    - Diminished

    - Half-Diminished

    - Fully-Diminished

                     scales, mwhich contain about 12 or so each..

    you have to learn all your chords, for example;

    all your

    -Bb major Chords

    -Bb minor chords

    -Bb Dimnished

    -Bb suspended

    -Bb aeleoli

    and much more..thats just barely scraping the surface.

    hate to burst your bubble, but perfect playing isn't just shredding, with sick *** solos, and you can't own with solos on the guitar until you learn all your scales, and chords, so you know which way is easier way around

    so in total, there are about 400 different techniques that you have to learn for the guitar..

    if you want to play mediocre=1 year

    if you want to play decent=2-5 years

    great=5-10 years

    excellent=10-15 years

    perfect=15 years or more..

    note:this may be different, who knows, it depends on your initiative, and willingness to play the guitar well, and be patient..

    and this time scale can drop to around 12 years for perfect playing.. but its still quite a while.

    hope i helped =)

  6. I'll copy an answer I gave once to a similar question:

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

    And here's version for you:

    It depends. Firstly, explore as many genres as you can:

    heavy metal (Megadeth, Iced Earth, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest...)

    blues (Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Albert King, B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan)

    progressive (Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Queen, ELP, Rush, Queensryche)

    classic rock (The Who, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Aerosmith)

    classical (Tchaikowsky, Mozart, Beethoven, Bach)

    R&B/soul (Ray Charles, James Brown, Aretha Franklin...)

    and so on...this will help your sense of melody and harmony...and rhythm - simply you will have more and better ideas.

    Then, about the actual playing...learn the following:

    Theoretical part:

    1, read music notation...I mean REAL notation, not tabs, they're useless bullshit

    2, learn theory - scales, chords, progressions, intervals

    This will help you UNDERSTAND what you're doing, which is essential whether you do or don't have a teacher, but especially if the latter is true.

    ///so that you understand...here's an example what it would look like without this knowledge: you have a huge fat belly and want to get rid of it...the type of excercise you decide to use is press-up, which is not much useful for belly and you'll do it for months with no result - caused by not knowing that sit-up is much better for training belly muscles/// - a similar equivalent WILL happen if you don't learn to read music and the basic theory

    Practical part:

    1, learn to improvise solos

    2, work on your technical abilities - there are tons of excercises

    3, work on your tone - ie. vibrato

    4, work on you rhythm

    ...and chords of course if you don't know them yet

    IMPORTANT!

    Practise every day...30mins are enough, but DAILY. You'll be able to play Nirvana-like stuff in a few months and in about 3-5 years you can become a world-class guitarist. But you must practise, study and learn learn learn - everything I told you to do...I don't wanna hear that bullshit like 'I'm not gonna learn theory cuz it's h**l boring'...suit yourself but you'll suck suck and suck if you try your own 'shortcuts' and ignore some important parts of musicianship...I can tell you that if I compare me or other with the knowledge of theory and the stuff to those retards who play from tabs only, they would be slaughtered in a guitar battle and I mean in every possible criterion.

    Guitarist to look up to:

    Marty Friedman (Megadeth), Uli Jon Roth (Scorpions), Yngwie Malmsteen, Randy Rhoads (Quiet Riot, Ozzy), Steve Morse (Deep Purple), Zakk Wylde (Ozzy), Glenn Tipton (Judas Priest), Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck....the list goes on and on and on....it's Heaven and h**l:D

    And one more thing - it's advisable to get a teacher and go through 10-15 lesson so that he helps you with the basics

    It's a long journey, but it's worth it. Good luck.

  7. You'lll never be able to play perfectly as there is no such thing as perfection.

    If you've never touched one before, it is immensely doubtful that you will be good in 6 months, I have been playing guitar for 4 years, practise at least an hour a day and I'm a decent guitar player, i would say.

    The quickest I've ever known anyone be good a guitar from starting is 18 months.

    You can learn guitar yourself as well, you dont just need a tutor.

    Im not saying its impossible but its not likely. But with a lot of hard work and dedication you will get better quicker :)

    Good luck!

  8. It's possible, if you practiced in all your spare time, but its highly doubtful. I've played for five years now with a teacher and teaching myself and still I don't feel like I'm where I want to be. It also depends on your teacher, you book and what kind of stuff you want to play. Good Luck!

  9. 17 years or so.. maybe as much as 24?
