  1. bounce and life jacket will be your main needs.

  2. that's pretty good. you will for sure have an advantage over the rest of the beginners but it will still take some time to get the hang of it. you might want to try longbord skateboarding and get the hang of carving and stuff. don't give up!!!

  3. hey remember me you told me to get bones reds bearings and you were my best answer now I  learned the oposite way I was surfing before I was skating and you could problably do it the other way 'round to all you need is good balance.

  4. Depends on the individual.

  5. When my family went to hawaii my little 13 year old sister surfed from the first time she got on the bord. She did not even have to learn, basically you have to stand on it and keep balance...

It will take you a few try's and then you will be surfing...

  6. In my 18 years growing up on the south side beaches of Hawaii I have found that the learning curve seems to be different with everyone regardless of prior experiences with board sports. I ride a 6'7" board and I find the closest thing to surfing is bombing a hill with a carve board. If you have good balance you should pick it up faster than other people but there are more factors than just balance in surfing. One of the big ones is stamina, you'll spend a good amount of time paddle back out after you catch a wave and if you can't handle the stress that puts on your body you'll be following of your board in no time. Another big factor is FEAR. Some people just freeze up when they're in the big blue.

The only way to really know is to grab a board and charge em' hard!

  7. You should be standing up on your own and maybe turning on your first day.  You still need to learn how to stand up.  I say take a lesson and you will be exposed to most of the best techniques.  Those you skateboard before they come to my surf school usually are doing well in a couple of months.
