How long will it take me to solo a glider?

I currently started flying gliders, and i have flown twice. Im 14 and alrdy have 76 hrs dual with single engine aircrafts. How many flights / hours should it take me to solo in a glider. When are you permitted to do aerobatics in a glider/ sailplane

  1. It is so good to hear some one join the gliding fraternity.

    With your flying experience, you should have a better idea of gliding than most people. Having flown gliders twice, you should have got a hang of gliding and would be coming into the circuit phase after a short time. Once you have your heights and gliding distances worked out, landings would very much come naturally to you. Once you have cleared landings, solo would come next. I would reckon you should be able to solo by the time you have completed about 20-25 flights. The time would roughly translate into 2-2.5 hours.

    Aerobatics would follow much later after you have mastered the art of gliding and a suitable aircraft is available. You should be able to attain this stage by 5-6 hours total flying time.
