  1. it doesn't go away!!!!  don't get in this situation to begin with!!!

  2. 7 years for a derogatory rating to disappear off your credit report..

A secured credit card can do wonders for repairing bruised or damaged credit.

  3. It may take awhile for you to get your self together, it will take at least 7 years or so, and if the accounts go into collection, it still depends on the dates of last activity.  And there is a statute of limitation on both.  If you can you should try to pay them off, if not, it's going to be a long haul.  So, while you are waiting, you need to start rebuilding credit by getting a secured credit card, and a secured loan, and disputing the negatives off of your credit report.

  4. 7 years, but some companies can keep re-newing the debt and it will stay on longer---typically the max is 7 years though

  5. 7 years.

You also can use credit repair agency, for example this one - http://freecreditreport.deep-ice.com

They will clean lots of such bad stuff from your credit report - and do it much faster than yourself, so your credit will go up.
