  1. You will never end your voyage as you will sink and drown,

  2. Current record in a large trimaran is about 72 days (Dame Ellen McArthur) with a capability of over 30 knots. Slash that to 5 knots for a boat under 30 ft and you'd be around 432-plus days...so well over a year maintaining optimum speed which is unlikely.

Bank on 2 years and consider any time shaved as a bonus.

  3. Depends on what route you choose, how many pubs you stop at, whether you are racing or cruising for pleasure. Some people love it so much they never stop.

  4. I'll justset off now, i'll let you know when im back k-lol Sorry i couldnt resist.   If i was you I wouldnt even chance it... Why would you even want to try that????

  5. I should know this one.

  6. A typical cruising trip on a small boat takes about 2 years, but many extend this  with layovers at any destination.   The typical route and time take advantage of favorable winds and weather.

One can jump into this circle at any point, but from the east coast of the U.S.:   People head down the coast in spring/early summer and enjoy the winter in the Caribbean.   then transit the Panama canal in Spring and make the longest crossing to the Tahiti islands.   From there, island hope across the south Pacific and pass through the Torres Straights above Austrailia about August.   Those passing south of the Cape of Good Hope (Africa) want to do so in about January/Feb (Their summer) and then head north across the Atlantic arriving back in the Carribbean/.  Alternatively one can head up the Red Sea, through the Suez Canal and arrive in the Med. in early spring and enjoy that for a few months before heading to the Canary Islands in the fall to wait out the hurricane season and then make th the passage back to the Caribbean sometime around Dec.  When Spring comes, it's an easy ride with the winds and currents back through the Bahama Islands to the south east coast of the U.S.

This route takes advantage of the prevailing easterly trade winds and relatively mild weather.   Racers, drop down further south and go the other way with the prevailing westerlies.   Many of them have done it in under three months

  7. And then there are those that don't make it. Read

Adrift by Steve Callahan. his boat sunk off Africa and he spent 76 days on a life raft.

66 Days Adrift by William Butler. He and his wife spent 66 days in a life raft after whales sunk his boat about 1200 miles from Panama.

  8. What it isn't flat??????
