How long will it take the freezer bowl of my ice cream maker to freeze?

If the mixture is cold and the insert is full frozen, it can take depending on the fat content in the ice cream your making about 15-20 minutes as the ice cream thickens it slows down, once done pack it in a container and store for 1-2 hours in the freezer to firm up, you can eat it right away but is soft and not as good as solid frozen.

I am a former chef and have a 3 Qt Cuisinart and have used many others plus larger commercial one that make up to 5 gallons/20 liters.

It does take at least 6- 22 hrs for the insert to freeze again and be ready for your next batch of ice cream. To test if it's frozen, take it out of the freezer and shake it. If you don't hear the liquid move inside, then it's frozen.

I have a Cuisinart that makes 2 qt. of ice cream.
