  1. When I went alone, my first time, I took an hour - and that was on no sleep for 24 hours!!! (This was right after getting off the plane.)

With people my age, it took only about 45 minutes.

With my dad, aged 50 and not really fit, we were more like an hour and a half.

I think the way down took just as long, because much of the time we were worried about falling flat on our faces :)

  2. As long as Arthur is not sitting in it then it should not be much of a challenge.

  3. It takes about an hour to an hour and a half. I managed fine. I'm hugely unfit and this time included constant stops to wheeze. The view from the top is spectacular.

  4. I went from the gate off the road to  Penicuick to the top in less than an hour, and I am a fat old man. There are quite a few paths to the top.

The trot along the top of Salisbury crags is quite nice too - you could start near Holyrood House, along the top of Salisbury Crag, up Arthurs seat, descend the east side and back via one of sevearl routes to Holyrood house for a nice varied stroll

  5. Arthur's Seat is the main peak of the group of hills which form most of Holyrood Park, a remarkably wild piece of highland landscape in the centre of the city of Edinburgh, about a mile to the east of Edinburgh Castle. The hill rises above the city to a height of 251 m (823 feet), provides excellent panoramic views of the city, is quite easy to climb, and is a popular walk. Though it can be climbed from almost any direction, the easiest and simplest ascent is from the East, where a grassy slope rises above Dunsapie Loch. It should take about half to three quarters of an hour.

  6. It's not that much of a challenge, if you're that fit it might take you 30 - 45 minutes, longer than that if you keep stopping to admire the fantastic views of Edinburgh and the surrounding area.

  7. 200 feet

  8. give yourself a couple of hours and enjoy!

  9. i'd say about an hour to an hour ad a half, but if you want a shorter walk with an equally beautiful view, you can hike up Calton Hill instead.
