..Derby(east midlands)to glasgow(scotland)?or how much would it cost to fly per person?we are staying over one night.

4 1/2 to 5 hours drive, its about 450km. Just head up the M6.

If you want to fly, the nearest airport that flies to Glasgow is Leeds-Bradford with BMI - the cheapest flights they have in august are 62 pounds.  Derby to Leeds airport is 140km / 1 3/4 - 2 hours drive.

Another option would be to take the train, you only change once in Crewe, and the journey takes just over 5 hours and you can enjoy the lovely English / Scottish country side.  Tickets are cheaper booking on-line with nationalrail.co.uk (38 pounds, compared to 90 pounds buying the ticket on the day).
