  1. It takes the average practitioner at my karate school 7 years to get the black belt.

Overall, it depends on your school as to how fast you get it. In my opinion, at least 5 years is the time one should wait to become a black belt.

Yes, it can make you more outgoing because it provides you with more confidence and self-esteem. You'd be surprised at how working your body out along with learning self-defense skill can spill over into other parts of your life like your social life.

I've became more outgoing. Before martial arts, no lie I was lazy, aggressive as can be, a slacker, and just a bad seed. After training for  awhile, I got better. Today, I'm one of the most outgoing people I know and also one of the hardest workers too. I'm also very kind and have even worked harder in school and achieved Valedictorian this past year.

So yeah, it does help a lot lol.

  2. I dont know about more outgoing. But TKD definatly improved my inner focus. It took me 3 years of solid, 4 day a week training to get my 1st dan black belt (i had one of the strictest teachers, Young Bo Kong, 8th dan, in Pittsburg). If you have a more lenient teacher and you are willing to learn quickly and efficiently, i'd say hope for your promotion in two years or so.

  3. Well, let's see, for me, I went twice a week, it took me three months to get to the next belt. So, adding three more, it would take at least about a month to get to the next belt. So, yeah, but take your time too. Your body may not be completely ready to hard training and you'll ache yourself a little. Just stay focus and you'll be fine. Yeah, I guess it would make you more of outgoing because you have more confident of knowing you have the skills and you're not afraid of the dangerous world. So, I hope this explains a bit more for ya.

  4. I trained five days a week for four hours a day at my first school. I reached and was presented my 1st dan recognition four and half years after starting.

After my master left I joined another school with a friend, and there people who expected to be given their balck belt after a mere year of training. Any of our blue belts could of taken their black belts!

  5. it took me 3 1/2 years 4 classes a week to get my black belt. (in tkd)

  6. Honestly mate, if you are asking how long it takes to earn a blackbelt, then you are not ready to do Martial Arts.

  7. It usually takes no less than 4 years to get to 1st degree black belt. It's great that you train 5 times a week - there are a lot of people who don't have that kind of commitment. Just keep working hard and you'll do great.

In my experience, doing taekwondo has made me a lot more confident than I used to be.

    Good Luck!

  8. It take an average person about 5 years in my school.  3 days a week.  And anyone testing for black HAS to come to ALL classes for a year (unless deathly ill.)
