  2. The  work authorization and permission to travel can take up to 90 days to issue.

Then an interview is scheduled, which can take anywhere from 6 to 9 months after application.

Then if the interview is successful, the green card can be issued in about 4-8 weeks after the interview.

  3. It depends on what type of petition you filed. If you filed for K-3 visa it takes from 6months to a year to process. If you filed for CR1/IR1, it takes about a year or more to process.Vermont seems to be in a lull now in approving CR1/IR1. A K-3 visa holder has to apply for Adjustment of Status (green card) when she gets here.Processing for green card can range from 6 months or more. For a CR1/IR1, since she is already an immigrant her greencard and SSN card will be mailed to her automatically.Usually it will be mailed to her 2 weeks after arrival in the US.A very informative website you can browse is www.visajourney.com and you can join forums too of people who has the same situation as you.

Addition: If you filed for I-130 then she is a K-3 filer.Once issued a visa and after she arrived here in the US she can start to file for Adjustment of Status or green card. The processing time range from 3 - 6 months. If you've been married less than 2 years upon filing she will be issued a Conditional green card.If you're married for more than 2 years she will be issued a Permanent green card good for 10years. If you can't wait that long and she wants to work, she can temporarily apply for Employment Authorization while her green card is in process.

  4. 1) It took me up to 1.5 years to get my I-130 processed after my American husband filed for me to come from Vietnam.  She just has to continue with her life in HK and sit there and wait.

    2) Also, I hope that you filed for your I-129F for the K-3.  This will perhaps reduce the time, and allow her to enter the USA and stay with you until the I-130 is processed.

  5. It's going ot take at least a year.
