  1. It is different, for everyone, but you need confidence, singles are really easy -the axel specially if you practice of ice.  So it shouldnt take long, not more than a year at very most.

  2. Taking away the Axel, it can take about 1 year to "land" the singles. However, just because you can do the jumps, doesn't mean they will look pretty. Beginners always make their singles look sloppy and the look stays for years.

4 hours a day everyday is too much. You need office time too. It's more reasonable you'll be skating just 90-120 minutes everyday and even that is pushing it because your body isn't used to that load of exercise. It's reccomended you take 1-2 days a week off to rest your muscles. You use muscles in your feet you don't use when you walk, you'll see.

It takes different amounts of time to land the single Axel for different people. Hockey players who have been playing for several years who switch to skating can land it in just a few weeks because they have the muscle and skating skills not to fall, but lack the refined technique that comes from learning the basics to make the jump look pretty.

I've been having problems to master the jump for years myself. I can land it on the ground pretty well. I am close to landing it on the ice without a cheat on the rotation. That sure took several years. ¬¬ I find the Double Salchow to be far easier haha.

  3. depends on the skater. ive been skating since late feb 07 n ive landed my flip. im working on my lutz n flip, i have a friend who have been skat strted skating a while but strted lessons in june n is working on her dbl toe loop but hasnt landed her lutz or axel, her toe loop is just rly good. so ir depends on the skater. im guessing about 1 yr - 1 1/2 yrs.

  4. It is different for every skater.  Some skaters learn and "perfect" a jump in a couple sessions or a few weeks.  Other skaters struggle with one darn jump for YEARS!  I struggled to perfect my double salchow for fourteen months!!  The salchow is my absolute worst jump.

On the other hand, and so weird, I perfected my axel in about two months.  I get it perfect nearly every time, and that strong foundation made for getting my double axel right fairly easy.

    Still, my salchow sucks.

    Go figure.

  5. It depends on how much you know already. Some Jumps are difficult to master, like the axel. I'm sure if you work hard at it, you will be a very good figure skater!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. It is different for everybody. Some people are fast learners and can do this within a year to a year and a half and for others it can take up to three years. Good luck!

  7. I've been skating for about 10 years now and i can remember that the last single jump my teacher set me was the axle. I had been working really hard over the past few weeks, occasionally staying all day at the ice rink. When I came down of that jump i was soo tired that i landed real bad, busted my knee and broke my wrist. A word of advice - don't push too hard or you might just make a stupid mistake and won't skate again. It also wreaks your confidence.
