Question:

How long will it take to tone up? I'm running every day?

How long would you think it would take for me to tone up? I'm 15, slimmish not hugely big on my thighs but I would like to tone them up slightly, and my bum! aha Maybe lose a bit of weight, but that is not a huge priority.

I've been twice already... I know that doesn't seem much but you have to start somewhere right? I'm planning on running every day, rain or shine!

How long until I see slight results? Or should I be doing more?

  1. I was told at my local gym, that you should work out no more than 4 days a week with at least one rest day in between as building muscle is all about damage and repair as you run your in affect ripping your muscles that's why you get stiff, as you rest the muscles are repairing themselves but get bigger, so on and so on... there are lots of good places on the net to show you good excesses to do at home, to help build muscle tone, to much running will damage your joints! so go easy and listen to your body:O)

    Good luck.

  2. Well, first, don't rush 'cause these kinds of things DO NOT happen over night. And I suggest you don't run every day; just 5-6 times a week because your body needs at least a day to get well rested and recovered.

If you don't have much muscle at all right now, then you probably won't start to gain that muscle until another 3-4 month. It will come quicker though if you also add strength training and weight lifting to your workout...

    Good luck!!!

  3. hi im a runner at the tender age of 15 too and im interested in keeping fit, if you wanna tone up i recommend either going up lots of dirty great hills, or what would probably be better is going to the gym and using weight machines for your legs, or alternatively do lots of squat thrusts and burpees or sprinting.

as for the amount your doing dont do too much running because you'll get bored and stop make sure you have a couple of rest days. if you go into a bookshop you'll find books with training programmes for beginner runners

Running is excellnt but it takes a while depends on your eating habits, everythin you have to consider, times you eat what you eat, dont over do the running do what you can but at a pace where you could talk when doing it. everyone is different so just go at a pace your can deal with and buuild it up like going a little faster each week or every 3 days which ever suits you i started by timing my self how long it took me to do 5k and went a bit faster each day , then i stopped!!! its hard for me to start again. Hope you have better luck,
