Question:

How long will motorcycle last?

I'm thinking about getting a 2008 Yamaha V-star 250, and wondering how long I can expect the bike to last. It would set me back a bit in purchasing a car, but if the bike is going to last more than 15 years, then I don't think it would be rash to get it now. The bike would only cost me $2400, which compared to it's new price of $3600 (including title and plates and all that) is great!

I just want to know if the bike will last long enough to be worth it. It's either this bike, or no bike, so don't recommend me a different size or style or whatever.

  1. If you take care of it, it can last over 15 years. If you abuse it and beat the heck outta it it will last a lot less.

  2. it can definitely last 15 years if its taken care of.  a lot of people get bored with 250s way before then, but thats not the question at hand i suppose.

  3. My daughter rides an '07,  Its an impressive small cruiser with a proven engine design.

Japanese bikes will last forever.  I see  more '80s models motorcycles on the road than  cars from that era.

  4. they last a long time if they are maintained well...I've had a 1956 harley for over 30 years still runs graet...15 years for a bike is pushing it but it is very possible...good luck ...buy the bike
