I am no longer breastfeeding as of this morning. I was wondering how long I can expect the pain and swelling to persist? I have a wedding to attend Saturday evening and was wondering if the worst will be over by then or if I should express for a few more days and then stop after the wedding. I don't want to be in so much pain that I don't want to hug friends and family that will be there.

  1. it can take anywhere from a week to a few months. it depends on how much you were still nursing before weaning if it was only 2 or 3 times a day it shouldn't take long if you were still nursing 8 to 10 times a day it will take longer for you to dry up :) good luck mama just make sure to bring a few extra nursing pads just in case

  2. I can give you a old remedy that my grandmother told me its going to sound a little out there but it worked for me so try it. Hear we go. Go to the market and buy a head of cabbage put it in the freezer and once it is frozen take off piece's of the leaves and apply them to your breast in side your bra of course to hold the cabbage in place. Keep it in there until it thaw's reapply ever time you would normally feed your baby your milk will be gone in no time. Good Luck

  3. Mine lasted 2 days.

Now, I have read that if it is not your first child, or even if it is, some women lactate for several months after stopping.

  4. the really bad apin for me lasted afew days, and as it started to disperse it wasnt so bad. so for me all in all about a week and a half

  5. A couple of days is what I experienced, you could always relieve a little to because your body will only produce the amount that is leaving, just so it supplies enough for your baby.
