I agree Gary that we are free but we have to continue to fight and in 2000 our election was stolen from us. Here is proof: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4762159260759486531&q=hacking%20democracy&hl=en

  1. Until the Marxist liberals get elected in November.

  2. They only control those who do not think. Sadly there are a lot of non-thinkers in the world. You can fly in the airplane or ride the bus. It all depends on the ticket you purchase.

  3. News should be a presentation of facts, allowing individuals to form opinions on them.  It is not news today, just pre-digested propaganda spieled out by hateful people.

  4. An excellent and serious question.

As U.S. national news media has moved in a dozen years from 50 major owners to five corporate owners, the news media has had more influence over government and has become more compliant.

"Orwell Rolls in his Grave" is an interesting starting point for anyone concerned about this Republican corporate spin on what gets reported to the American people.

I think the answer to your question rests in an end-run -- a collection of alternative  voices which do not rely on the major mass media networks.  And while this is underway the U.S. will see increasingly serious efforts to control the Internet.

If the Internet is the major end-run to bypass corporate media control, then these five corporations are going to urge government to rein in the World Wide Web.

The intellectual capital of the news media is a vast resource, but increasingly journalists are disgusted with the pressures placed upon them by corporate owners.  Take a look at this clip from Anderson Cooper on Wednesday evening -- http://blip.tv/file/945895

Republican corporate ownership has more influence by supporting government than being the watchdog for the public.  America experienced this during the build-up to the Iraq War when the UN and so much of the industrialized world was against unilateral U.S. action.

The desire for corporate profits and shareholder earnings this year, generates tremendous danger for the long-term economic health of any nation, and makes the people more vulnerable to outside forces -- both terrorism and economic forces.

This is a serious question within the profession.  See the current on-line issue of American Journalism Review     http://www.ajr.org/

    Hope this answer helps you.

  5. Forever it always has been alway will.

  6. I couldn't agree more, & have been asking the same question since Bush (literally) took office.  If you look at the news in other countries, it's like night & day compared to the pasteurized,  propoganda that is spoon-fed to us in the U.S.  They won't even show anyone being killed, or the wounded, or anything that Americans might find "disturbing" or make us feel "uncomfortable."  Nothing that might wake people up & make them start thinking for themselves.  Nothing that might make us start questioning what's really been going on.  Of course throughout history, the gov't. has told the American people what we wanted to hear, & only what they thought we needed to know.  (Just try to find out anything about area 52, which "doesn't exist!")  Anything they don't want the public to know, is just stamped "CLASSIFIED."  But the republicans are EXPERTS & masters at the old "bait & switch" not to mention so incredibly arrogant, that they blatantly break the laws of our country, & nothing is done about it!  As you pointed out, Bush flew the entire Bin Laden family out of the country, BEFORE the FBI could interrogate them, the family of a terrorist/serial killer, take your pick.  That was completely ILLEGAL!  No one else could fly in our air space ("Need that kidney for your child, huh?  Sorry, can't fly it to you.")  Wire-tapping, exposing agents, this guy makes Nixon look like a choir boy!  It makes me crazy.  What can you do when almost half the country has their heads in the sand, have fallen for the old republican cry, "If you 'ain't with us, you're agin' us!  And if you're agin' us, then you're a traitor, & not patriotic!")  I've actually heard people say things like, "If you won't stand behind our troops, you should stand in front of them!"  That's the republican machine in action.  If you don't agree with everything they want to do, including killing hundreds of thousands of our own people & innocent people in the countries we invade, then you're a traitor.  Even when the war is a scam, is leading us into a depression, sucking the little money we have from social programs & education, & making the United States a laughing stock.  He & his cronies are the most arrogant, corrupt, unethical, greedy, immoral, & compassionless, IGNORANT little dictators to ever pull the collective wool over a country's eyes.  EVER!  I am seriously afraid of the damage he's done to our reputation, the environment, education (or lack of) & our economy.  I question how we'll ever recover from this.  And the war goes on...

  7. Democrats have controlled the US House and Senate since the 2006 election.  Though from their accomplishments it's easy to see how that may have escaped notice.

Dem Obama may be the next president and there's no indication that all that MONEY came from corporate republicans or T Retzko.

And as soon as the DNC gets control of their primary process they can try controlling US.

Challenging the expert consensus that the threat of global terrorism is increasing, the Human Security Brief 2007 reveals a sharp net decline in the incidence of terrorist violence around the world.

Fatalities from terrorism have declined by some 40 percent, while the loose-knit terror network associated with Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda has suffered a dramatic collapse in popular support throughout the Muslim world...
