I'm an American moving to Australia. The only thing that scares me in OZ, is not the wicked witch, but vehicle prices. Now that the USD is weak, do you think Ford and Holden will lower their prices?

  1. Not sure of your question. If you are assuming that Ford and GMH cars in Australia are made in America let me assure you that most of the cars are locally made. Some GMH V8's are sourced from the States (not sure) about Ford. However with the Aussie $ appreciating things from the US will become cheaper to Aussies. I would assume that would include vehicles as well.

  2. The two currencies will need to move MUCH further apart before it will halve the price of a Honda or a Holden Commodore. It's simply not going to happen. I wouldn't even hold my breath for a 5% price reduction - the best that will happen is that they may put off a projected price rise for a few months.

When you come to Oz, why not downsize to the type of car most Australians drive? You'll still get from A to B in comfort and safety and you won't need to spend nearly as much on petrol, registration or insurance.
