How long will the check engine light stay on due to a loose gas cap. ?

My check engine light just turned on in my 05 Tundra. I checked and it appeared my gas cap had been not on real tight for 100 miles or so. Now, 3 days later and 200 miles later the light is still on. If it was due to the gas cap...does it just take awhile to reset...should I be concerned.

It should reset on it own, if not unhook battery and wait 5 minutes and hook back up and it should be off.

get someone to check for any codes. If the gas cap is the problem then they should be able to clear it.

You sure it's for the gas cap? take it to Autozone or Discount Autoparts they will diagnose it for free.
